CLIMBING ARTEZONRAJU MOUNTAIN FOR VALLEY SANTA CRUZ

Day 1: Huaraz - Cashapampa (2900m) - Llama-corral (3760m) / 12,332ft

This Day we will pick up at your hotel with our private vehicle, then we will drive toward the north along callejon de huaylas valley passing on the way several small towns, some of them still preserve the colonial architecture, on the way we will stop several times to enjoy the spectacular views of the Andes, , including the western face of Peru's highest peak, mount Huascarán, then we follow driving until reach Cashapampa village located at 2900m/ 9 514 ft, where our muleteers and mules await us While they are loading our climbing equipment on donkeys, we will begin our hike, toward the first camping spot, along the Santa Cruz valley, the trail follow close to the river with great view of: waterfalls, typical Andean trees after 5 hours walking we approach to wide grass meadow, where is located our campsite with spectacular view of snowy peaks to the valley head. 11 km / gaining elevation (850 m)

Day 2: Llamacorral - Alpamayo Base Camp (4200m) / 13,776ft - Base Camp Arteson raju (4230m) 13km trek / 6-7 hours hike / gaining elevation 490m

After our breakfast, we will start walking around at 8:00 am, passing close to beautiful lagoons of ichiccocha (small lake) and Jatuncocha (large lagoon), then we follow walking along lovely of wilderness area of santa cruz valley until reach quisuar, from it we hike up toward the alpamayo view point, the trail winds up on several zig zags, as soon as we reach the view point the superb mountain scape comes into the view, mount alpamayo to the north(considered as the most beautiful mount in the world, by international contest since 1966) and the lovely peak of artezon raju to the south, the striking resemblance of paramount studios logo. After short break we keep going until Arhueycocha Lake at 4450m, after that we back on the same route, until view point, finaly we move to base camp of artezon raju 4230m

Day 3: Base Camp - Moraine Camp Artezonraju at 4950m 3- 4 Hours hike Gaining Elevation 720m

This Day after our breakfast we will walk toward moraine camp with porters support & cook we will pass on the way up through the quenual forest, then to walk on significant steep ridge, to finally crossing on loose ground & rocky. But at the time, we gain elevation the view becomes awesome with great view of: taulliraju, paria, alpamayo & pukajirca

Day 4: Moraine Camp – Attempt Summit Artezonraju at 6025m – Moraine Camp – Base Camp 14 - 15 Hours Ascent & Descent Gaining Elevation 1075m

This Day we get up very early mid night as a usual, we leave around 1:00 am toward the glacier, as soon as we approach, we dress up with the appropriated clothes, when we are ready we will start climbing upon good snow & ice negotiating several crevasses, crossing just below the overhanging seracs, then we reach at the begin of snow wall, from it we climbing up using protection each pitch of 60 meters for our safety in some sections ice stakes & in other ones ice screws, where is required. each pitch will have 65°, 70° & 75° degrees to climbing, which is depend of the season, because the mountains condition change year to year, nevertheless in some section is usually founded loose snow, finally we will travers on fine snow ridge until reach the top, on the summit we will have breathtaking view of 360° around us, then we decent retracing on the same route, rappelling in some sections where is necessary for our safety.

Day 5: Base Camp – LLamacoral 4 - 5 Hours hike Gaining Elevation

This Day after our breakfast we back down until llamacoral camping spot, we will walk down on easy trail along wondrous santa cruz valley until llamacoral.

Day 6: LLamacoral- Cashapampa – Huaraz

This Day after our hearty breakfast we start walking down toward cashapampa, where will wait our private transportation to back Huaraz.
