TREK LAKE 69 CORDILLERA BLANCA

Laguna 69’ is an amazing glacier blue lake that is literally hugged by snowy mountain peaks, jagged rocks and trickling waterfalls, it is one of the most impressive scenic day hikes in all of the Cordillera Blanca; It is truly a unique and special place in the Cordillera Blanca.

Our Itinerary:

We drive from Huaraz (3100m) to Cebollapampa (3900m) on the way we will pass on the colourful and magic towns of carhuaz, yungay, and we drive into llanganuco valley between huge granite rock walls until Cebollapampa, where we are going to start walking up, The first 45 minutes takes through the valley bottom where there are a few stream crossings on strategically placed rocks before reaching the first set of switchbacks.

The first sets of switchbacks are long and gentle. The switchbacks end at a small lake – not Laguna 69 – which we thought it was going to be!, ten we follow walking up toward the lake, with incredible views of snow-capped peaks, after the final step we will be rewarded by the nature, the blue water of the lake comes into view.

The beautiful high mountain lake is lies at the base of mount Pisco and Chacraraju with amazing view of the lake and summit around it. We back down on the same trail up watching the most astonishing mountain views of Huascaran, Chopicalqui, chacra raju and Yanapacha until cebollapampa, where our private transportation awaits us and to back Huaraz.
